Rhyl regeneration

in 2003 TCC set up a group who worked on issues of litter and waste in Rhyl, primarily the West End which was the most deprived ward in Wales on the index of deprivation. The issue of litter had been consistently identified by local people as the first thing that needed to be tackled in any regeneration effort.

TCC secured a regular meeting with the Head of Public Protection and Regulatory Services for Denbighshire County Council to enable local people to discuss their issues and seek improvements in the service. £52,000 was also secured to provide an extra cleaning vehicle in the area for a year as a trial.

We met with the Deputy Chief Executive of Denbighshire and worked on a litter/waste plan to use as a basis for taking proposals to the county. We were also asked to provide training for Communities First who wanted to maximise the impact of their work in the area.

TCC continued working with churches and resident groups to raise the self esteem of West Rhyl.

In 2011 TCC supported the start of the One Rhyl Project, providing community organising training for volunteers.
