Stop School Hunger

O ganlyniad i ymgyrch Stop School Hunger / Dysgu Nid Llwgu TCC, clustnododd Llywodraeth Cymru £450,000 tuag at gynllun peilot newydd. Bydd hynny’n sicrhau punt y dydd yn ychwanegol ar gyfer disgyblion ysgolion uwchradd sy’n gymwys, fel y gallant fforddio prynu brecwast yn ogystal â chinio yn yr ysgol.

Bydd y cynllun peilot yn dechrau ym mis Ionawr 2021 ar gyfer disgyblion Blwyddyn 7 ac os bydd yn llwyddiant bydd yn cael ei ehangu i gynnwys yr holl ddisgyblion cymwys yng Nghymru.

As a result of TCC’s Stop School Hunger / Dysgu Nid Llwgu campaign, the Welsh Government committed £450,000 towards a new pilot scheme. This will provide an extra £1 a day for eligible secondary pupils, so they can afford to buy breakfast as well as lunch at school.

The pilot will start in January 2021 for Year 7 pupils, and if successful will be expanded to all eligible pupils in Wales.

Support the campaign

Dwi’n  cefnogi’r bwriad o gynyddu’r lwfans pryd ysgol am ddim.  Galwaf ar Lywodraeth Cymru i estyn yr ymrwymiad i bob plentyn sy’n derbyn y lwfans yng Nghymru.

I support the proposed increase to the free school meals allowance, and call on Welsh Government to extend this commitment to all eligible children in Wales.

Our own research backs up evidence from the likes of the Children’s Commissioner for Wales that children are arriving at secondary school, too hungry to learn. A significant group of children eligible for free school meals are forced to choose between eating breakfast or a proper lunch. They can’t have both.

Mae ein hymchwil ein hunain yn cefnogi tystiolaeth arall gan Gomisiynydd Plant Cymru ac eraill, bod plant yn cyrraedd yr ysgol uwchradd, yn rhy llwglyd i ddysgu. Gorfodir grŵp sylweddol o blant sy'n gymwys i gael prydau ysgol am ddim i ddewis rhwng bwyta brecwast neu ginio iawn. Ni allant gael y ddau.

Mae 49% o’r staff addysgu ‘weithiau’ yn darparu bwyd

i ddisgyblion, gyda 13% yn gwneud hynny’n ‘aml’.

49% of teaching staff 'sometimes' provide food to pupils,

with 13% doing so 'often'.

Mae gan bob un ohonom stori i'w hadrodd...

P'un a ydych chi'n athro, cynorthwyydd dysgu, llywodraethwr ysgol, rhiant neu ddisgybl, mae eich stori'n bwysig.  ydd eich stori yn helpu i baentio llun o'r llwgu sy'n wynebu ein disgyblion tlotaf a pham mae'n rhaid i Lywodraeth Cymru gynyddu prydau ysgol am ddim, fel y gallant fforddio bwyta brecwast a chinio iawn.

We all have a story to tell...

Whether you’re a teacher, teaching assistant, school governor, parent or pupil, your story matters. Your story will help paint a picture of the hunger facing our poorest pupils and why Welsh Government must increase free school meals, so they can afford to eat breakfast and a proper lunch.
